Shari Belafonte

Shari Belafonte ( born September 22, 1954 in New York ) is an American actress and singer.

She is the daughter of Harry Belafonte and Marguerite Byrd psychologist. After the Hampshire College in Amherst ( Massachusetts), she studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, with a BA in acting ( " Drama "). Then she started a successful modeling career (including for Calvin Klein Jeans, overall they had cover model on over 300 magazine covers ), but began from 1982, to appear in films and worked as a production manager and assistant director in television on the east coast, before she moved to Los Angeles, where she was an assistant to the cartoon production company Hanna- Barbera. Larger notoriety as an actress, she earned as a receptionist Julie Gilette in Aaron Spelling's series Hotel ( 1983-1985 on ABC ). In 1985 she was honored with a Bambi. She began in the 1980s, also a singing career (mainly in Europe) and had her theater debut as Tamara in the same piece in Los Angeles. In 1991, she played Prof. Laura Wingate in the television series Beyond Reality. From 1994, she hosted a lifestyle magazine ( Lifestyles with Robin Leach and Shari Belafonte, before Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous ) and from 2006 travel shows on television. She is also very active in various supporters projects for children, animal and environmental protection ( spokesperson for the Starlight Children's Foundation) and promotes fitness and diet companies such as Slim-Fast. From the Wall Street Journal, she was voted one of the Top Ten of the "celebrity endorsers " ( prominent advertising supporters ).

Shari Belafonte was married from 1977 to 1988 with Robert Harper and is married to actor Sam Behrens since 1989. In 2000, she was photographed in the September issue of U.S. Playboy.
