Sharp PC-E500(S)

The Sharp PC -E500 pocket was a computer that could be programmed in BASIC. The power supply is provided via four micro batteries ( AAA), which was sufficient operating for about 70 hours.

The built-in programs included the areas math ( whole numbers, equations, differential calculus, integral calculus, formulas and graphs), physics, chemistry, biology, geology, electrical engineering, mechanics and statistics. In addition, physical constants, and the periodic table of elements were available. However, it was not possible to assume a result automatically in another program.

The Sharp PC -E500 settled by Memory ( RAM cards ), printer, RS232 interfaces, tape and floppy drives expand. By changing the hardware itself also had the internal memory (RAM) of the standard 32 KB expandable to 256 KB. This was automatically detected by the operating system and enabled the establishment of a large RAM disk to store numerous own programs.

The successor, the Model PC - E500S, 1995 came on the market. This was a little wider, so the buttons were a bit bigger. The display had more contrast and the keyboard cover a hinged lid was used instead of the plastic slipcase. In addition, there were four additional BASIC commands. Programs that have been written on the original model were fully operate on the successor model. In the reverse direction, however, this was only if no use was made of the additional BASIC commands.
