Shatuo Dam

The Shatuo Dam ( Chinese沙 沱 水电站, Pinyin Shatuo Shuĭdiànzhàn ) is a dam on the Wujiang in the autonomous region of China's Guizhou Province Yanhe.

Building

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building was held on 28 June 2006 and the excavation work began shortly thereafter. 2008 after the river had been blocked off, broke a part of the dam together because of the karst foundation and had to be reconstructed. On 19 April 2009, the river was dammed and the reservoir began to fill. A shipping lock is planned; their completion is expected in 2020.

The hydroelectric power plant went into operation in 2010. It is intended to provide an annual average of 4.55 billion kWh.
