Shaun Maloney (2010)

Shaun Richard Maloney ( born January 24, 1983 in Miri, Malaysia ) is a Scottish footballer who is currently under contract at Wigan Athletic.


After various stations as a youth player, the striker ended at the age of 16 years at Celtic, where he soon signed his first professional contract. Despite his enormous talent Maloney did not come on the status of Einwechselspielers addition.

Only since the summer of 2005, under new manager Gordon Strachan, he has become an integral part of the team and won a regular place as a left winger. After the 2005/ 06 season, Maloney was elected simultaneously to the best players in the Scottish Premier League and Young Player of the SPL, which previously have succeeded any player. Overall, he completed 104 games and hit it 26 times. In January 2007 he was transferred for 1.1 million pounds for the English club Aston Villa. There, however, he came to the end of the season 2007/ 08 on the status of a supplementary player not out and returned on 22 August 2008 back to Celtic. On 31 August 2011 will be change for the Premier League club Wigan Athletic was announced, where Maloney signed a contract until the end of June 2013.
