Shaun Tan

Shaun Tan ( born 1974 in Fremantle, Western Australia ) is an Australian writer and illustrator.

Life and work

Shaun Tan specializes in picture books or graphic novels. In 2010 he was the artistic guest of honor at the 68th Worldcon in Melbourne. His award- winning book The Arrival (Eng. A new country ) describes in haunting images the migration of a father in a foreign country, with completely strange customs, food and animals. Shaun Tan has been working on this book for four years. In this book there is not one readable word.

He worked as a concept artist on the films Horton Hears a Who! and WALL-E - Legend of the Dee to the earth, both of which were published in 2008. His film The Lost Thing, which he realized with Andrew Ruhemann and based on his own book from the year 1999, won many awards.
