Shaun Tomson

Shaun Tomson ( born August 21, 1955 in Durban, South Africa ) (name derived from Tomchinsky ), is a former professional surfer / surfer and businessman. In 1977, he was surfing world champion. From 1976 to 1989 he participated in the World Tour. In his home country of South Africa he managed from 1972 to 1977 a six-year winning streak in the Gunston 500 contest. In Surfing Magazine he was designated in 2004 as one of the 16 greatest surfers of all time.

His son Mathew died on 24 April 2006 in Durban, South Africa, in a tragic accident.
