Shawn Elliott
Shawn Elliott ( * in Puerto Rico; actually Shawn Elliott Santiago ) is a Puerto Rican actor and singer.
Life
He began his career as a singer Elliott of calypso music. In 1965 he had a surprise hit with a novelty number from the 40s, Shame and Scandal in the Family. In Europe, the song in the version of Elliott was a great success. In Germany it reached number 14 in the Netherlands and No. 3 in Austria, there was even a number 1 hit.
It was his only success, even a second attempt in 1976 with a Disco-/Soul-Album under the stage name Santiago was unsuccessful.
In 1968 he stood as a musical actor on Broadway on stage. Since the 80s, he also plays movie and television roles, including appearances in the series Cosby Show, Miami Vice, Law & Order and CSI: Miami.
Since 1990 he has been married to actress Donna Murphy.
Shame and Scandal

The Calypso singer Sir Lancelot from Trinidad had made the song Shame and Scandal ( In the Family ) 1943 in Jacques Tourneur's horror film I followed a Zombie popular. In the song, it is important that the son of the family wants to marry a girl twice, but both times raises his father caveat: Both girls are his sisters, the mother only knew nothing about it. Then the boy confesses to his mother, but only says that he should marry the girl quietly, his father was not his father, the only not know.
While in the English-speaking countries, the original version remained most popular, the song was made by Shawn Elliott only known on the European continent. Other artists who recorded the song, were Lord Melody, Lance Percival (1965 # 37 in UK), Peter Tosh, The Wailers, Johnny Chester, Trini Lopez and Sam Elliot. In 2005, the ska band Madness internationally had a minor hit with the song.
A German version of the song there was in 1965 by Harry and Ronny under the title The shame of our family, another of the Swiss band The Dorados as uns're small fine family ( She is ) (Text: Kurt Feltz ). At the same time the song was also included on Bavarian, Gela and the Ghent Ries sang of " The disgrace and G'red ". A French version ( Scandale dans la famille ) was published the same year by Dalida, by also an Italian version called "Un Grosso Scandalo " exists, another French photographs were taken by Sacha Distel and Les Surfs from from Morocco. 2012, a vernacular interpretation of the song was first performed by the Holstuonarmusigbigbandclub.
