Shawnee County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Topeka.

Geography

The County is located in northeast Kansas, in each case is about 80 km from Nebraska and Missouri in the north to the East and has an area of ​​1441 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water surface. History

Shawnee County was formed on 25 August 1855, one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after the Native American people of the Shawnee.
