Shchors (city)

Shchors (Ukrainian and Russian Щорс ) is a city in Chernihiv Oblast of Ukraine, and the center of the same name Rajons with 12,300 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2005).

History

A settlement under the name Korschiwka was here in the 1860s. From 1924, the place is the town Snowsk. In 1935, the city was renamed in honor of the eponymous commander in the Russian Civil War in Shchors.
