Sheath dress

The Sheath Dress, also tube dress or shift dress (english shift dress, sheath dress ), was in the 1930s and 1960s as a particularly fashionable. Precursor is the princess dress of the mid 19th century. Today the sheath dress is considered timeless, business fair and belongs to the classical inventory of upscale shoe.

Features of Etuikleids is its close, flattering, yet without horizontal waist seam (waist separation) cut fit. The shift dress features a collarless, usually horizontal neckline. Round and tapered necklines are also common. The sheath dress is worn sleeveless or with very short sleeves ( sleeves ball ). Sheath dresses typically range up to the knee, but are somewhat longer and shorter versions (mini- shift dress ) possible.

The shift dress became famous in the 1960s mainly by prominent makers such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Édith Piaf, respectively, in the present by the American First Lady, Michelle Obama. Due to the simple and unadorned section and basically missing or very thrifty decoration it is considered classy and very elegant. It can now easily, much like the " little black dress", with which it is related, be worn as an evening dress, cocktail dress or business attire.
