Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor

Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Sheikh Mustapha al Masrie am ( born July 26, 1972 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) is a Malaysian doctor and the first, and so far only, Spaceman his country.

Muszaphar Shukor studied medicine, Department of Orthopaedics, Kasturba Medical College at ( Karnataka ) in India and worked in various hospitals in Malaysia.

On 9 September 2006, he was selected as part of the space program Angkasawan for the crew of Soyuz TMA -11. Together with his replacement, the dentist Faiz Khaleed, he began his cosmonaut training in October 2006.

Muszaphar Shukor launched on 10 October 2007 together with Yuri Malenchenko and Peggy Whitson to the International Space Station. There, the science astronaut conducted experiments regarding liver cancer, leukemia cells and tests for the crystallization of proteins and microbes. After eleven days Shukor returned with Soyuz TMA -10 returns to Earth.
