Sheldon Brookbank

Sheldon Brookbank ( born October 3, 1980 in Lanigan, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League since July 2012. His older brother Wade is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Sheldon Brookbank played three years for the Humboldt Broncos in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, before joining a professional league. He played in the 2001/02 season for the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the East Coast Hockey League, and after two seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League.

On July 21, 2003, he signed as a free agent a two-year contract with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, but yet he came not to his first NHL - use, but continued to play in the AHL. However, not more for the Grand Rapids Griffins, but for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, the former farm team of the Mighty Ducks. When his contract expired, did not renew his contract the Ducks, but on 4 August 2005 the Nashville Predators took him for a season under contract. During this year he played for the Milwaukee Admirals. He sat 232 penalty minutes on the bench, most of the entire team.

The Predators extended his contract on 21 July 2006. During the season 2006/ 07 he also got his first NHL use. Most of the time he played for the Milwaukee Admirals. In the same season he was awarded the Eddie Shore Award as the best defender of the regular season. On 1 July 2007 signed Brookbank, again as a free agent, a contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Before he had even played a game for the Blue Jackets, the defender was set on 2 October 2007 on the Waiverliste, chose him from the New Jersey Devils. This gave him during the following season - February 3, 2009 - in exchange for David McIntyre to the Anaheim Ducks from.

During the 2009/10 season, the defensive defender established at the Californians when he came in 66 games for use and the second-best plus / minus balance of the team reached 10 . In June 2010, Brook Bank agreed with the Anaheim Ducks to a contract extension by two years. After this contract expired, the Canadians beginning of July 2012 was fitted as a free agent by the Chicago Blackhawks to a two-year contract.
