Sheldon Whitehouse

Sheldon Whitehouse ( born October 20, 1955 in New York City ) is an American politician (Democratic Party). Since 2007 he has been a representative of the State of Rhode Iceland to the U.S. Senate.

Life

Sheldon Whitehouse, whose father Charles S. Whitehouse was the United States Ambassador in Laos and Thailand, attended St. Paul 's School in Concord, New Hampshire, a private boarding school. He studied at Yale University ( completion 1978) and the University of Virginia School of Law, where in 1982 he earned the degree of Juris Doctor. He is married to the marine biologist Sandra Thornton Whitehouse since 1986. The couple has two children.

Professional and political career
