The Shenango River is a 161 km long river in the western U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It forms the confluence with the Mahoning River the Beaver River. The outflow is via the Ohio River and the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico. The Mahoning River is part of the river system of the Mississippi River and drains an area of 2761 km ². The source is located near the village of Hartstown in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The Shenango River first flows in a northwesterly direction into the 69.15 km ² Pymatuning Reservoir, which was created in 1934 by building a dam. The lake lies entirely in the same two state parks, their common boundary is identical to the state line Pennsylvania / Ohio.
