Shenzhen Airlines (Chinese:深圳 航空) is a Chinese airline based in Shenzhen and based on the Shenzhen airport.

History

Shenzhen Airlines was founded in October 1992. Co-founder of the airline were in addition to the Government of Shenzhen with the support of Air China, Bank of China, the Overseas Chinese City Economic Development Corporation and the Shenzhen South Tongfa Industrial Corporation. The flight operations began on 13 September 1993.

Shenzhen Airlines owns 51 % of the regional airline Kun Peng Airlines, and also a 51% stake in Jade Cargo International. This international air freight company was founded in 2004 as a joint venture with Lufthansa Cargo ( 25%) and DEG founded ( 24%).

On June 10, 2005 Boeing handed in Seattle the first Boeing 737-900 to Shenzhen Airlines.

In March 2010 it was announced that Air China through the acquisition of additional shares in Shenzhen Airlines will become the majority owner of the company.

Destinations

Shenzhen Airlines serves in addition to numerous destinations within China and some destinations in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand, and the Philippines. The Company also maintains also codeshare agreement with Asiana Airlines and All Nippon Airways.
