Sherbrooke Jets

The Jets de Sherbrooke was a Canadian ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from Sherbrooke, Quebec. The venue for the Jets was the Palais de Sports.

History

The Sherbrooke Jets were founded in 1982 as a farm team of the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League. The team played only two years in the American Hockey League before it was disbanded by the Winnipeg Jets again. The two coaches were responsible in the season 1982/83 Rick Bowness and in the season 1983/84 Ron Racette. In two seasons, the Jets finished the season as the last of the North Division and missed the playoffs thus significantly to the Calder Cup.

The gap left by the Jets in the city, was filled in 1984 by the Sherbrooke Canadiens, who until 1990 played as a farm team of the Montreal Canadiens in the AHL.
