Shiawassee County, Michigan

Shiawassee County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Corunna.

Geography

The County is located southeast of the geographic center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has an area of 1400 square kilometers, of which five square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Saginaw County, Genesee County, Livingston County, Ingham County, Clinton County and Gratiot County.

History

Shiawassee County was formed in 1822 from parts of Oakland County and St Clair County. It was named after the Shiawassee River.
