Shinano (Nagano)

Shinano (Japanese信 浓 町, machi ) is a town in Shinano in Nagano Prefecture.

Geography

Within the city limits to the east is the Lake Nojiri. In the West, the 2,053 m high stratovolcano Kurohime (黒 姫 山, -yama ) is the Kurohime plateau (黒 姫 高原, Kurohime - Kōgen ). The lake and the plateau belong together with the Myoko Plateau of Mount Myoko for Jōshin'etsu - Kōgen National Park.

History

The city's name comes from the province of Shinano, however, whose main town was not located within the present Shinano.

Shinano was (柏 原 村, -mura ) (富士 里 村, -mura ) founded and Fuji Sato on April 1, 1955 as the village of Shinano (信 浓 村, -mura ) as a merger of the villages Kashiwabara. On September 30, 1956, the villages of Shinano, Shinanojiri closed (信 浓 尻 村, -mura ) and Furuma (古 间 村, -mura ) to the city Shinano together.

Traffic

Shinano has connection to the Jōshin'etsu - highway to Fujioka and Joshin and to the prefecture road 18 to Takasaki and Joshin.

Shinano ist mit den Bahnhöfen Kurohime und Furuma an die JR East Shin’etsu-Hauptlinie zum Bahnhof Takasaki und Bahnhof Niigata.

Attractions

The Kurohime - tale house (黒 姫 童话 馆, Kurohime dōwakan ) collects tales from around the world.

Education

In Shinano are the primary schools Furumi (古 海 小学校), Nojiri Lake (野 尻 湖 小学校), Kashiwabara (柏 原 小学校) Furuma (古 间 小学校) and Fuji Sato (富士 里 小学校), as well as the middle school Shinano (信 浓 中 学校). 2011 are to be merged into a single integrated schools all elementary and middle school.

Twinning

Partners town of Shinano is since 17 May 1995, the 160,000 inhabitants is the Nagareyama in Chiba Prefecture.
