Shincha

Shincha (Japanese新 茶, new tea) is the first harvest of the year. The most recent and finest tea leaves are usually produced to a special, limited edition of Japan's best teas. Classic Shincha teas are overshadowed teas like Gyokuro or Kabusecha tea. Harvest time for Shincha teas is usually the end of April, the main sales period is Japan's holiday weekend ( Golden Week ) in early May of each year.

Shincha is available in Japan only a few weeks after the first harvest and is usually sold out as early as May. In Germany, for several years a strong increase in demand developed for these rare teas. Shincha tea is characterized by its light, fresh and sweet taste.
