Shinedown

Shinedown is an American rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. The music, which was founded in 2001 band combines influences from hard rock, grunge and metal. Shinedown have sold over eight million albums worldwide.

History

Creation and Leave a Whisper

In spring 2001, a native of Knoxville singer Brent Smith had with his former band a pre-contract with Atlantic Records. After Atlantic Records decided to, just continue working with Smith moved the singer to Jacksonville. Through a friend learned Smith bassist Brad Stewart know. Next, the guitarist Jasin Todd joined the band. After the trio had tested several candidates for the post of drummer Barry Kerch finally completed the band. In Jacksonville and Orlando Shinedown eventually took on several demos before Atlantic gave the green light for the debut album.

The band traveled to Los Angeles under the direction of producer Bob Marlette album Leave a Whisper to take. Marlette worked previously with artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and Saliva. The album was released in July 2003, reached number 53 of the U.S. album charts and is now the best-selling work of the band. In October 2005, Leave a Whisper was awarded for more than one million units sold in the U.S. with platinum.

Up until the release of the debut album Shinedown had not played a concert. In the following two years, Shinedown played countless concerts as opening act for Van Halen, 3 Doors Down and Life of Agony. In the meantime, Leave a Whisper was re-released. The new version includes, for example, a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man song. The music video for the single 45 was boycotted by MTV. In August 2005, the band's DVD Live from the Inside managed. For this purpose, a concert in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was recorded.

After a short pause the recording for their second studio album Us and Them began. With Zach Myers, a second guitarist was added to the band. The 13 songs comprehensive work was published in October 2005 and reached number 23 of the U.S. album charts. Shinedown went with Godsmack and Rob Zombie on tour. Us and Them was awarded a gold record. The singles Save Me and I Dare You reached the U.S. singles charts and were ranked number 72 and 88

Upon completion of the tour activities, the founding members Jasin Todd and Brad Stewart left the band. They were replaced by Nick Perri and Eric Bass. Again Shinedown traveled to Los Angeles to record their third album The Sound of Madness. The album was released in the U.S. on 24 June 2008 and reached number eight of the U.S. album charts. In Germany, the album was released October 14, 2008, in the same autumn Shinedown were as the opening act of Disturbed in Germany go.

On 18 December 2008 Nick Perri got out for personal reasons. Zach Myers took over the role of lead guitarist, the band was thus to fourth again. In spring 2009, Shinedown toured for the first time as headliners in Europe. The European tour took the band especially by smaller clubs. As an opening act, the British band The Crave was one of the party.

In the summer of 2009 the band performed at the Rock am Ring festival at the Nürburgring. In the fall, followed by another headlining tour followed by Europe. Here Shinedown also played again in smaller clubs and halls. As support Shinedown were some with SOiL and Sevendust go.

In summer 2012, the band performed at the Rock am Ring festival at the Nürburgring.

Amaryllis

A new studio album was first officially announced in March 2011. On May 3, 2011, a DVD with the name Somewhere in the Stratosphere was released. This included alongside footage of two tours and backstage impressions and interviews. Was then announced in August 2011 that Rob Cavallo, who has already collaborated on projects with The Sound of Madness and produced already for Green Day and Kid Rock, stood as a producer available. The first single titled Bully was published on 3 January 2012. Same time it was also announced that the album is titled Amaryllis. A day later, Roadrunner Records were known to take the band outside of the United States under contract. A publication of Amaryllis is scheduled on 27 March 2012. In February 2012, Shinedown toured again as a headliner through Europe, this time supported by Halestorm and Liberty Lies. The concert at the Live Music Hall in Cologne was recorded by WDR Rockpalast for television.
