Shirley Babashoff

Shirley Frances Babashoff ( born January 31, 1957 in Whittier ) is a former American swimmer.

It was at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 and in Montreal in 1976 with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay Olympic gold medalist. In the individual sections was their victory, however, not permitted at the Olympics, she won the silver medal four times. With eight medals but it is one of the most successful swimmers in history Olympias. At times you may also find that their progress in swimming. With their time they reached the Olympic final of the 400 m freestyle, she had won 12 years earlier, the gold medal at the men.

At the World Championships she was able to triumph in the singles. It was at the World Championships 1975 on 200 m and 400 m respectively world champion. During her career she put on a total of 11 world records. In 1982, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.

Her brother Jack Babashoff was also float and won at the 1976 Olympic Games silver medal in the 100 m freestyle.
