The Shiveluch (Russian Шивелуч ) is a stratovolcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Russian Far East, located about 50 km northeast of the village Kljutschi. It is the northernmost of the active volcanoes of the peninsula.

Volcanic activity

The volcano was 60000-70000 years ago; there are about 60 known eruptions during the Holocene.

On August 15, 1999, a new outbreak cycle of Shiveluch began. An eruption occurred on 28 October 2010 at the same time with an eruption of 80 km in a straight line southwest to Klyuchevskaya Sopka. A new outbreak was observed in the form of an approximately 15 km long pyroclastic flow from the NASA Earth observation satellites Terra on January 25, 2011.
