The Shizuoka Airport (Japanese静冈 空港, Shizuoka Kuko; engl Mt Fuji Shizuoka Airport. ) Is on the urban areas of Makinohara and Shimada in Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan situated public airport. It was opened on July 4, 2009.

The Shizuoka Airport is considered by the Japanese legislation as third class airport.

Location

The airport is located near the volcano Mount Fuji and was built among other things, for the tourists to reach the mountain faster. He also serves on travel of residents of Shizuoka Prefecture. Most from the airport destinations served are located in Japan and China. The building has long been politically controversial and the displacement of completion led to the resignation of the governor of Shizuoka, Yoshinobu Ishikawa.

Home Carrier

The home carrier of the new airport is Fuji Dream Airlines that fly with Embraer 170 destinations in Japan. Its route network should be increased to more destinations.

Objectives

Early 2014 following destinations will be served:

  • Fuji Dream Airlines: Chitose ( Sapporo ), Fukuoka, Kagoshima.
  • All Nippon Airways ( ANA): Chitose, Naha
  • Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to Seoul
  • China Eastern: Shanghai
  • China Airlines Taipei

Check-in

The Shizuoka Airport is near the train station Kanaya on the Tōkaidō Main Line. Although the Tōkaidō Shinkansen runs directly under the airport, but is not connected. There are also bus services to many, close to villages. The bus station is right outside the terminal. About the connection points Yoshida I.C. and Sagara - Makinohara I.C. there is also a car port to the Tomei highway that runs south of the airport.
