Shlomo Argov

Shlomo Argov ( born 1929 in Jerusalem, † February 23, 2003 ) was an Israeli diplomat.

Shlomo Argov was born in 1929 in Jerusalem. His family was resident there for seven generations. At a young age he joined the Palmach. During the Israeli War of Independence in 1948 Argov was wounded in the fighting around the town of Safed.

Later Argov studied political science at Georgetown University in Washington DC where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1952. His Master of Arts he received in 1955 at the London School of Economics.

Argov several years in the Prime Minister's office has now, before he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1959. His first tasks in the diplomatic service took him to the Israeli embassies in Ghana and Nigeria. From 1971 to 1974 was Argov ambassador to Mexico, and from 1977 to 1979 in the Netherlands.
