Short track speed skating at the Winter Olympics

Short track speed skating has been part of the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992 on the program of the Olympic Winter Games. Before that, it was held already at the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 as a demonstration.

At the Olympic disciplines for men and women include the 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m and the relay. The season will be played in the women's 3,000 m and in the men's 5,000 m. The 3000 m of women and men in 1988 only held as a demonstration event.

The sport is dominated by teams from Asia and North America with South Korea is by far the most successful. Many of the previous 33 Korean ( North and South Korea) medals at Winter Olympics 30 medals were won in the short track speed skating. Similarly, in China come so far 20 of the 33 medals won by the short track speed skating.
