Shoshannah Stern

Shoshannah Stern ( born July 3, 1980 in Walnut Creek, California) is a deaf American actress.

Life and work

Shoshannah Stern was born in 1980 in Walnut Creek, a deaf Jewish family and soon moved with her family to Fremont, where she spent her childhood. Like her siblings also deaf, she learned early on sign language "American Sign Language " and attended the California School for the Deaf, Fremont, where her parents worked. Later she studied at Gallaudet University in Washington DC, a university for deaf and hard of hearing people, where she discovered her love for acting and the theater.

Already during her studies at Gallaudet her a small film role in the American television series Off Centre was established in 2001 offered, followed by appearances in series such as Providence, Boston Public, ER - Emergency Room, Lady Cops - Tough female and Threat Matrix. This was followed by a supporting role in the award winning television series Weeds alongside Mary- Louise Parker, as well as a starring role in Jericho, a role that was not originally written for a deaf actress.
