Shpongle

Shpongle is a psychedelic mostly on ambient music ( Psybient ) concentrated music project that was founded by the two artists Simon Posford and Raja Ram. The commonly referred to as " psychedelic downtempo " or " Psybient " designated Genre mainly includes elements of Goa and downtempo or ambient. In addition, often elements of other genres be involved, for example, from psychedelic rock, jazz or ethnic.

History

Shpongle was founded in 1998 as a joint project by Simon Posford and Raja Ram. Cooperation between the two is characterized by both a driving, electronic rhythms, the other by ambient and ethnic elements. Posford is under the name Hallucinogen to be very successful psytrance artists active while Raja Ram, who began his career as a jazz flutist and musician with the hippie band Quintessence, since 1994, the psytrance label TIP World operates.

Raja Ram dominates except the flute many other musical instruments and plays a large part of the arrangement. Simon Posford added electronic instruments and rhythms. Before the foundation of the Shpongle project, the two have worked together on a short-lived project called Mysteries of the Yeti.

The fourth studio album was released on 28 November 2009 under the name " Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland ". On July 29, 2013, the fifth album was released, entitled " Museum Of Consciousness ".

Naming

In an interview Simon Posford Shpongle explained the origin of the word as a blending of the words " spangled " and " monged " ( slang for " high" or " stoned" ). The term " SHPONGLED " used Posford at an early meeting as an attribute for the Raja Ram apparently located at that time on drugs.
