Shrine of Hazrat Ali

The Ali Mausoleum in Mazar- e-Sharif ( Balkh Province ) from the 15th century, and Blue Mosque or Rauza, applies (mainly in the Afghan population itself) as a burial place Ali ibn Abi Talib, the son- Mohammed and one of the most important personalities of Islam. Mazar- e Sharif is Persian and means grave of the saint. The imposing mausoleum of the saint is one of the most beautiful mosques in the world and is the most important pilgrimage site in Afghanistan.

Among historians, it is highly controversial whether Ali ibn Abu Talib, the first Imam of the Shiites, is actually buried in this area. In addition, the legend of the Holy existed since pre-Islamic times. It is very likely that this is the actual burial site of the ancient Persian prophet Zarathustra, who lived about 3,800 years ago and worked. The Imam Ali Mosque in Najaf in Iraq is considered a burial place Ali ibn Abi Talib.
