Shut Up and Drive (Rihanna song)

Shut Up and Drive is the second or fourth single of the R & B singer Rihanna from her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad. The song was written by Carl Sturken, Evan Rogers, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert Paul David and produced by Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers. The song was released as the second single from the album in the U.S. on June 12. The song Samplet the tune of New Order's Blue Monday with a rock sound. The song became Rihanna's seventh number -one hit in the U.S. dance charts.

Criticism

The song was well received by music critics.

Music Video

The director for the music video took over Anthony Mandler, the choreography Tina Landon. At the beginning of the video Rihanna drives a Ferrari F430 in a garage or workshop.

The music video was filmed in the Czech capital Prague.

Shut Up and Drive debuted at number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached after a few weeks at No. 15 when her hit Umbrella was number 1, but failed to match the success of Umbrella Shut Up and Drive. The song became Rihanna's seventh number -one hit on the Hot Dance Club Play Charts (8 December 2007). She now holds the record for the second most number-one rankings in succession, Madonna and Janet Jackson are still in front of her. Until Today, more than 3.26 million units of the song have sold in the USA, also the title of the RIAA certified platinum.

In Europe, the song could still celebrate greater success, reaching the top ten in Germany and the United Kingdom; there it was Rihanna's fifth consecutive Top Ten hit. To date, the song has sold in the UK over 235,000 times.
