Si Prachan District

Amphoe Si Prachan ( Thai: อำเภอ ศรีประจันต์ ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the eastern part of the province of Suphanburi. Suphanburi is located in the west of central Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe are from clockwise from south: Amphoe Mueang Suphanburi the Don Chedi and Sam Chuk Suphanburi province, as well as Amphoe Sawaeng Ha, Pho Thong, Samko and Wiset Chai Chan Ang Thong province.

The main water resource of Si Prachan is the Maenam Tha Chin ( Tha Chin River ), also called Maenam Suphan ( Suphan River ).

History

In 1901, the government separated from some parts of the district of Tha Phi Liang ( Amphoe Mueang Suphanburi today ) and Nang Buat to set up the new circle Si Prachan.

Management

The district is divided Si Prachan ( tambon) in nine municipalities.

There are three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Si Prachan ( เทศบาล ตำบล ศรีประจันต์ ) consists of parts of tambon Si Prachan and Ban Krang
  • Wang Yang ( เทศบาล ตำบล วัง ยาง ) consists of the whole Tambon Wang Yang,
  • Plai Na ( เทศบาล ตำบล ปลายนา ) consists of the whole Tambon Plai Na.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
