Sibelius is a music notation program, named after the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. It is manufactured and marketed by the company Avid Technology, in 2006, the product of the Sibelius Software Ltd.. the brothers Ben and Jonathan Finn bought. The current version, Sibelius 7 is available for Windows and Mac. Avid sees as a target group both home and professional users.

Functions

Sibelius allows a professional music notation. Traditional notation is without restrictions (such as in number or type of instrument ) is fully supported; also failed or not commonly used forms of notation are possible. When creating orchestral scores, the individual voices are automatically available. Sibelius 7 is available for Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac OS X 10.6.7.

History

The work on Sibelius began in 1986 as a pet project of the British twin brothers Ben and Jonathan Finn, the music during your studies at the University designed the first lines and programmed. The implementation was based initially on assembler and was later written entirely new to C .
