Sidney Arodin

Sidney Arodin ( born March 29, 1901 in Westwego, Louisiana, as Sidney Arnondrin; † February 6, 1948 in New Orleans ) was an American jazz clarinetist and composer of the Oldtime Jazz and Swing.

Sidney Arodin began with 15 years playing the clarinet and participated 1929 with the Jones & Collins Astoria Hot Eight of the first in New Orleans rehearsed by white and African- American musicians records. He is regarded as a composer of the jazz standard " Lazy River " (with Hoagy Carmichael ), although he never recorded the song itself. He began his career on the Mississippi riverboats, then went to New York City, where he played with Johnny Stein's New Orleans Jazz Band and from 1922 to 1925 with Jimmy Durante. Later he returned to the south of the USA, where he worked with Wingy Manone and Sharkey Bonano. In the 1930s he was a member of the band of Louis Prima and a revival version of the New Orleans Rhythm Kings.
