Sidney Moncrief

Sidney A. Moncrief ( born September 21, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas) was from 1979 to 1991 in the U.S. professional basketball league NBA active. He was one of the best defenders in the league, but could never reach an NBA Finals.

Moncrief played from 1979 to 1989 with the Milwaukee Bucks. With Moncrief found the Bucks had a top team in the early seventies and suffered a crash in the middle of the decade, back to its former strength. Moncrief was one of the best all-rounder in the league. Especially through his excellent defense of the 1.91 meter guard was feared by his opponents, in the years 1983 and 1984 he was voted the best defender in the league. Seven seasons in a row he led his Milwaukee Bucks to 50 or more wins in the regular season, the play- offs they failed, however, always to the Philadelphia 76ers or the Boston Celtics. In his time with the Bucks Moncrief was named five times to the All-Star Team.

After an unsuccessful season with the Atlanta Hawks Moncrief 1991 ended his professional career.
