Sidney W. Pink

Sidney W. Pink ( born March 6, 1916 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, † October 12, 2002 in Pompano Beach, Florida) was an American independent film producer and occasional film director and screenwriter.

Life

Pink had to do with a family movie; his family owned a cinema. Since high school times was his desire to become a film producer, he is after graduation in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1952 with funding from Bwana Devil, the first 3D film with a worldwide distribution, fulfilled. In the early 1960s he went to Europe, where he worked in the Denmark written by him Reptilicus first staged in 1961. Middle of the decade he was back in New York City, where he Madigan 's millions with Dustin Hoffman discovered by him produced, who was released three years after its rotational period, 1969, and in which he collaborated with the Spanish and Italian production team, what he intensified in the following years. So to 1970 created a number of genre films, including a number of Western. In the 1970s, he retired ( with one exception ) of the production work back and took care of one belonging to him cinema chain in Puerto Rico and Florida, where he lived again since 1974.

Pinks autobiography " So You Want to Make Movies: My Life as at Independent Film Producer" was published in 1989 ( Pineapple Press, ISBN 0910923779 ).
