Sidse Babett Knudsen

Sidse Babette Knudsen ( born November 22, 1968 in Copenhagen) is a Danish actress.

Life

The daughter of a photographer and a teacher completed her acting training from 1987 to 1990 at the Théâtre de L' Ombre in Paris. In the 1990s, Knudsen was a member of the theater group FAR 302, followed by appearances at Copenhagen theater playhouses. Parallel to this, she worked in the first Scandinavian film and television productions.

In 1997 she received the major Danish film awards, the Bodil and Danish Robert for the lead role in Jonas Elmer Drama Let's Get Lost. Two years later, she won both awards one more time for Susanne Bier's romantic comedy The right thing (1999).

A larger audiences, she was known by the role of Helene in Susanne Bier's Oscar -nominated romantic drama After the wedding, for which she received the Best Actor Award at the Nordic Film Festival in Rouen and was nominated again for the Bodil and Robert. International fame earned her the lead role in the highly acclaimed Danish TV series Borgen - Dangerous cliques (since 2010 ), in which it constitutes the first Danish Prime Minister.
