Siegfried Oberndorfer

Siegfried Oberdorfer (* June 24, 1876 in Munich, † March 1, 1944 in Istanbul ) was a German pathologist.

Life

Oberdorfer studied in Munich and Kiel. His doctorate in 1900 in Munich, his Habilitation in Pathological Anatomy in 1906 also in Munich. From October 1900 to September 1901 Oberdorfer was an assistant at Friedrich Wilhelm Zahn ( 1845-1904 ) in Geneva. In 1902 he returned to the headed by Otto von Bollinger Pathological Institute of the University of Munich. 1906 Oberdorfer was put in charge of the pathological institute of the hospital Rechts der Isar after the untimely death of Hans Schmaus ( 1862-1905 ). From 1910, he headed the Institute of Pathology of the Hospital in Munich -Schwabing. Successor at the Institute Rechts der Isar was Dürck Hermann (1869-1941) his colleague and friend from their time together at Otto von Bollinger. Since Dürck could begin before 1 August 1911, the management of the Institute Rechts der Isar, due to its location at the Pathological Institute of the University of Jena, Oberdorfer had to remain at the institute. In the Pathological Institute at the Hospital Schwabing he was represented by Emil Emmerich (1882-1937), who was the interim director until July 1911. From 1912 Oberdorfer began with the construction of a slide collection which was housed in the demonstration and collection room on the first floor and still to this day.

In the fall of 1933 left Oberdorfer Germany since the Nazi regime had him on racial grounds, dismissed from the service in the hospital Munich -Schwabing, together with the chief medical Otto Neubauer and David Mandelbaum on 1 April 1933. Until his death he remained in Turkey, where he worked at the Institute of General and Experimental Pathology, Istanbul.
