Siegfried Tiefensee

Siegfried Tiefensee ( born October 20, 1922 in Rastenburg, East Prussia, † March 24, 2009 in Leipzig ) was a German musician and conductor.

Siegfried Tiefensee had followed from his youth a career as a musician. Already during his school years, he began taking classes in piano, violin and composition. He graduated in 1947 from the music educator exam, in 1951 the state examination followed as a conductor.

He was Kapellmeister at the theaters of Stendal (1951-1954), Gera (1954-1958) and finally in Leipzig ( 1958 ). There he was at the "Theater der Jungen Welt " served as head of the incidental music and himself wrote incidental music. His numerous compositions include nearly 250 stage music, including over 100 for the children, youth and puppet theater. Added to this were his settings for television and radio plays, as well as film music. In addition, he created the music for children 's ballets. In a series of fairy tale pieces he used also elements of jazz, beat and modern sounds.

With Eberhard Tiefensee (* 1952, philosopher ), Wolfgang Tiefensee ( * 1955, politicians ), Volker Tiefensee (* 1956, politicians ) and a daughter had four children from the strongly Catholic family out.
