Siemens S65

The Siemens S65 is a GSM mobile phone of the former mobile phone manufacturer Siemens Mobile, which was available on the market as of the third quarter of 2004. The S65 cost at launch 479 euros and was therefore one of the luxury mobile phones manufacturer. It replaced the previous model S55 from. Siemens ceased production of mobile phones in late 2005 and sold the naming rights to the Taiwanese electronics company BenQ, its mobile phone subsidiary, BenQ Mobile was liquidated in early 2007.

The S65 had at first delivery a software bug, the so- played when a call is aborted due to an empty battery, according to the disconnection melody that Siemens warned: " In the extreme case, the volume might cause hearing damage. The S65 was the first mobile phone with an integrated 1.3-megapixel camera in Germany. The integrated camera takes pictures with a maximum of 1280 × 960 pixels with a fixed-focus lens. As with mobile phones in this class - at this time - as usual, the image quality is acceptable only in bright light. Furthermore, video sequences with up to 176 × 144 pixels are taken up. With older firmware versions, the length of these videos was limited to 30 seconds.

For data exchange, the S65 has a serial interface - through which to connect to the PC via data cable, either via USB or RS- 232 can be produced -, infrared and Bluetooth interfaces, and a data transmission via MMS or e-mail about GPRS is possible. As of March 2005, the SP65 variant was available in which no camera was installed. In addition, a version with Vodafone branding is established, the S65v.
