Sierra Madre del Sur

The Sierra Madre del Sur is a mountain range in southern Mexico, more than 1000 km from the southern Michoacán east through Guerrero extends to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in eastern Oaxaca.

He joins the Trans -Mexican Volcanic Belt of central Mexico in the north of Oaxaca, but remains of this west separated by the valley of the Río Balsas and the tributaries of the Río Tepalcatepec.

The highest point of 3703 m is located in the center of Guerrero.

Although they are separated by the Sierra Madre del Sur through the deep canyon of the Río Balsas lower, the mountains are south Michoacán to Coalcomán around normally included as well.

The mountain range is largely passed with Madrean Pine - Oak Woodlands ( Madrean pine - oak forests ) and known for its rich biodiversity and the large number of endemic species.
