Sierra Mazateca

The Sierra Mazateca is a mountainous region in the north of the Mexican state of Oaxaca.

Geographically, leaves the area may be divided into four climate zones that are in conjunction with the height levels of this mountainous region: cold highland areas above 1800 m ( tierra fría ), climatically temperate highlands 800-1800 m ( tierra templada ) and the lowlands below 800 m ( tierra caliente ). The most densely populated is the tierra templada, which represent cities, since the time of the Spanish conquest, the most common form of settlement.
