Sievi

Sievi [ siɛvi ] is a municipality in the north-west of Finland. It is located in the coastal hinterland of the countryside Nordoesterbotten each around 150 km between the cities of Oulu and Vaasa.

Next to the Kirchdorf (Finnish Kirkonkylä ) Sievi covers the villages Asemakylä ( German " village station " ), Jokikylä, Jyrinki, Järvikylä, Kiiskilä, Kirkonkylä, Kukonkylä, Leppälä, Lahdenperä and Sievinkylä.

Sievi is one of the main settlements of the Laestadianer in Finland. Since the families of these Protestant revivalism are often very prolific, the population of Sievi has a far lower than their national average average age; on the work ethic of Laestidianer is also below average unemployment rate of the municipality due.

Management

The dominant political force in the rural Sievi is the Centre Party. In the local elections 2008, she received more than 70 % of the votes and thus achieved one of its finland far best results.
