Sigeric

Sigerich († 415) was king of the Visigoths 415. He came after the assassination of his predecessor Athaulf through the support of powerful nobles to power. Since Athaulf Sigerichs brother put to death, swore these blood revenge. Whether Sigerich was involved in the murder, is not detectable.

Sigerich regarded as bloodthirsty and cruel ruler. He condemned the six sons Athaulf from his first marriage to death and decreased Galla Placidia, who had to travel among the slaves long distances on foot. He pursued a policy romfeindliche and prepared a great campaign before.

After only seven days reign he was assassinated by followers Wallias.
