Sighnaghi

Sighnaghi ( Signagi, georgian სიღნაღი ) is a town in the region of Kakheti in eastern Georgia. It is the administrative center of the municipality Sighnaghi and one of the smallest towns in Georgia with 2,146 inhabitants according to the census of 2002. Sighnaghi is 52 km south-east of Telavi, the capital of Kakheti region. About 2 km from Sighnaghi is the monastery Bodbe.

Sons and daughters of the town

  • Otar Tschiladse (1933-2009), a Georgian writer, poet and playwright. He is considered one of the classics of Georgian literature in the second half of the 20th century.
