Sigitas Parulskis

Sigitas Parulskis ( born February 10, 1965 in Obeliai, Rajongemeinde Rokiškis ) is a Lithuanian poet, dramatist, novelist, critic and essayist. Sigitas Parulskis is considered the enfant terrible of contemporary Lithuanian literature.

Life

After graduation in 1983 at the middle school Obeliai at Rokiškis he graduated in 1990, the Diploma Programme (Lithuanian language and literature) at the Philology Faculty of Vilniaus universitetas.

For his first volume of poetry erschienenist 1990, he received the 1991 Zigmas Gėlė Prize for the best poetry debut of the year. His first novel, Three Seconds heaven in which he has his experiences processed as a member of a Soviet paratrooper division near Cottbus, was awarded by the Lithuanian Writers' Association as the best book of 2002. In 2004 he was awarded for his work to date the National Prize of the Republic of Lithuania. His works have been translated into eleven languages. Three seconds Heaven is currently filmed.

He lives in Vilnius.
