Siglistorf (Swiss German: sɪgliʃ ˌ tɔrf ) is a municipality in the district of the Swiss canton of Aargau Zurzach. It lies on the border with the Canton of Zurich and about three kilometers south of the border with Germany.

Geography

The village lies in a narrow valley surrounded by the Jura formation. This is flowed from the southeast to the north by the Tägerbach which opens at Mellikon into the Rhine. The hills that flank the valley are very steep at the bottom and go over into flat plateaus. History

The first mention of Siglisdorf place in the year 1113. The nobles of Waldhausen donated the provost Wislikofen and gave the monastery of St. Blaise for this purpose extensive land holdings in the region. The place name comes from Old High Sigilinesthorf and means " village of Sigilin ".
