Origin

1942, a simple pole with distance information has been damaged to various locations during construction. The soldier Carl K. Lindley was asked to repair the signs. He decided to make the work more personal note, in which he added a sign that points in the direction of his home town Danville, Illinois, and indicates the distance to that. Several other people did the same.

Today, the Sign Post Forest covers an area of several acres, and it will set new stakes again by the municipality. Today, numerous street signs, license plates, and many more other signs from around the world there are attached.
