Sihelné

Sihelné (Hungarian Szihelne ) is a municipality in the extreme north of Slovakia with 2059 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Námestovo within the Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Beskid Mountains in the eastern part of the furrow Podbeskydská Brázda the creek Sihelniansky creek under the Babia hora (1723 m nm) in the traditional landscape Orava. North of the village runs the Polish border. The center is located at an altitude of 710 m nm and is located 15 km from Námestovo.

History

Sihelné was founded in 1629 by brothers Nováčik from the neighboring Rabča after they received the certificate of incorporation of the Orava Castle. The local parish was 1706. 1828 178 houses and 965 inhabitants recorded, who were engaged in forestry, agriculture, livestock and linen weaving.
