Siikalatva

Siikalatva [ si ː ˌ kɑ lɑtʋɑ ] is a Finnish municipality with 5985 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the countryside Nordoesterbotten. It was created on 1 January 2009 from the merger of the municipalities Kestilä, Piippola, Pulkkila and Rantsila.

Policy

As in most rural areas of Finland is in Siikalatva the Centre Party, the largest party. In the 2008 local elections, she received about two-thirds of the votes and thus has the local council, the highest decision-making authority in local affairs, with 19 of 25 seats on an absolute majority. The second largest group are the Social Democrats with three seats, followed by the Left Alliance and the populist right-wing True Finns. A seat was accounted for by the Greens Federation.
