Silbitz

Silbitz is a municipality in the northeast of the Saale- wood country - circle near Eisenberg and part of the joint management Heathland Elstertal - Schkölen. It consists of the districts Silbitz and Seifartsdorf.

Geography

The district Silbitz located on the east bank of the White Elster. This district is intersected by the 12th degree of longitude.

Adjacent communities are Crossen an der Elster, the city Eisenberg, Hartmann village ( in Eisenberg ), Rauda and Tautenhain in the Saale- Holzland, the town of Bad Koestritz and Caaschwitz district Greiz, the district-free city Gera and the community Wetterzeube in Saxony-Anhalt castle district.

History

The first written reference for Silbitz on September 24, 1217 and for Seifartsdorf 1274th

In the hallway of the eingemeindeten Seifartsdorf village located in the area of the old road on the eastern edge of the " grudges " eight grave mounds of the Neolithic period. Excavations have found grave fixtures and stone slabs. The two best-preserved grave mound have been marked with an oak. Four grave mounds were excavated in 1924.

March 16, 2004 Seifartsdorf was incorporated into Silbitz. The new in their area more than doubled since community consists of two unconnected areas, which are separated by Caaschwitz and Hartmann village.

Economy and infrastructure

The economy of the municipality is determined for several decades by the iron foundry, steel foundry Silbitz produced during the time of the GDR under the name VEB. Meantime (as of 06 /2008) is now the Silbitz Guss hot forming foundry with a turnover of approximately 75 to 80 million euros / year and currently has about 400 employees and 40 trainees again the largest employers in the region.

Sports

The most important sports club in the community is the SV Elstertal Silbitz / Crossen, whose men's soccer team played in the district league Thuringia since 2007.
