Silence 4

Silence 4 was a pop / rock band from Portugal.

History

The band was founded in 1995 in Leiria, David Fonseca, Tozé Pedrosa, Rui Costa and Sofia Lisboa. After she won a talent competition in 1997, they gained more attention for the first time by their version of Erasure A little respect on the compilation Sons de Todas as Cores, alongside names like Sérgio Godinho, dolphin, Pedro Abrunhosa among others The song was played a lot on the radio very often about RDP Antena 3, 1998 they signed a recording contract with PolyGram Portugal, and published in the same year, their debut album. Silence Becomes it reached multi-platinum status and allowed them an extensive tour of the whole of Portugal, and in particular the most important festivals and as part of Expo 98, where they performed several times at the Pavilhão Atlântico about. Against the wishes of PolyGram they sang still predominantly in English. The band attributed this to their preference for English bands like the Pixies, Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil. Her second album, Only pain is real 2000 reached platinum status.

They were awarded the Globo de Ouro 1999 and 2001.

After a final tour in 2001, the band announced the end of their ministry, 2002. The deciding factor was the decision of the singer David Fonseca to launch a solo career. He was followed as a solo artist also very successful in Portugal.

The first, published in 2004 as a double CD and DVD recording of Silence 4- concert on 19 and 20 December 2000 at Coliseu dos Recreios reached the charts.
